Artist: Crazy Lixx
on the heels of their tremendous ‘New Religion’ album, Swedish Sleaze
Rockers Crazy Lixx return with their stunning new album 'Riot
new album sees these hard rocking Swedes take up where 'New Religion' left
off, with an album that strikes more chords than a Les Paul falling from
the Empire State Building, as it gets underway in emphatic style with
‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’ or "What The F**k!" to those unfamiliar with
phonetic alphabet. An all guns blazing rocker that really sets the pace
for the rest of the album to follow and follow it does, as the good time
rocking continues with the excellent ‘Young Blood’, a track very much
in the Airbourne riff building vibe, but with a touch more sleaze, that
is truly Swedish in origin.
heavier side of the sleaze rock is brought to light with the thumping
title track ‘Riot Avenue’. There is still that AC/DC style riffing
but with a harder bass and drum foundation, complete with a Def Leppard
chorus thrown in the mix for good luck.
Swedes bring a little groove into the mix with the bad boy rocker
‘Fire It Up’, before bringing the tempo down a touch with the bluesy
‘Downtown’, complete with slide guitar.
all guns blazing, shoot from the hip rocking once more with ‘In The
Night’, before we all worship at the ‘Church of Rock’.
The latter a real anthemic rocker. Now it's time to get down and dirty with the sleazy riffs of the superb
‘Heatseeker’ and the equally superb ‘Sweet, Bad and Beautiful’.
Both groove filled rockers that rock big style.
The tempo is picked up big style with the fantastic Sunset vibed ‘Be Gone’, before the album closes with the truly outstanding ‘Only The Dead Know’. This one starts with a Y&T 'Rescue Me' type guitar intro and builds in a similar way around a haunting soaring vocal and great guitar riff. A great way to end another great Crazy Lixx album that once again shows the Sunset Strip scene is now very much alive and kicking in Sweden. So it's "Goodbye L.A., Hello Stockholm!".
