This
is a lovely pack of CDs to get your mits on. It is a remaster of
Amon Amarths 1997 release; however it is still as relevant today as it
was 12 years ago. The remastered disc shows off these 8 fabulous
songs to their best advantage. The 'Dragon Flight Across The
Universe' has beautifully melodies and along with great vocals is a joy
to listen to. 'Victorious March' is a true battle cry of epic
proportions. Throughout the disc, what stood out to me the most
were the haunting vocals of Johan Hegg. He has the ability to sing
in different styles that helps Amon Amarth stand out from the crowd.
The true test of this disc was if it could be translated into a live environment. This test is passed with flying colours for all to hear on the bonus Live CD. Not only are Amon Amarth a great band who have the ability to appeal to rockers from all genres, they are also a band to respect. They have worked hard and played hard to get this far and I look forward to seeing them in Dublin in October. Review by: Janice |
