Tommy Denander has worked with some of the biggest names in melodic and hard rock and as the previous Deacon Street project, he has once again put together a collection of not only of biggest names in rock, but some of the biggest tunes too! The original Deacon Street concept was to release the songs that he and his partner Chris Demming had written for various artists, but for one reason or another were never released. So they took it upon themselves to unleash these gems on to an unsuspecting world under the Deacon Street name. With the artists on this release reading like a who’s who of AOR and Melodic with the likes of Stan Bush, Johan Fahlberg and Andreas Novak all lending their vocal talent, and then likes of Reb Beach, Jeff Watson and Bill Leverty setting down some serious guitars riffs (and that's to name but a few), there is something here for everyone on this album, from the softer side of the genres to the more guitar fuelled side. The album opens up with ‘Beautiful Chardaine’ and features Peter Sundell of Grand Illusion fame on vocals and from here on in any fan of good melodic rock will be hooked by the splendour of the song writing and arrangements on this album. The album continues with Thomas Vikstrom of Talk of the Town taking over vocal duties on the beautifully crafted song ‘Leann’. The rockier side of AOR is touched upon with ‘When Love Is On The Line’ with the vocals of Jaded Heart front man Johan Fahlberg doing the business on the track. One of my favourite tracks off the album has to be ‘Save Me’ with the vocal talents of Andrea Novak, who appears courteous of Novak and who also sings on two other songs on the album, ‘Misery’, and the blues ridden ‘Second Comings’. Even Denander himself lays down some fine riffs on ‘Them Changes’. This album is a treat for all fans of the artists who contributed to this release, as well as all fans of good AOR and Melodic Rock.
