This hateful black metal quintet from Italy has released their most mature album in their history. This is their fourth album, coming after a five-year hiatus. Influences include Satyricon, Dark Funeral and Marduk. Compared to some black metal, this is nowhere near as heavy. The vocalist alternates between singing / screaming / growling throughout the album, and usually using more than one type of vocalising on each song. The drums race across each of the songs, rapid like a heartbeat about to burst out of the boy. It is slightly overwhelming in places, but doesn’t block or detract from the vocalist or the guitars / bass. The guitarists are obviously highly skilled, hanging their notes on the rhythmic pounding on the multitude of drum skins. The darkness is provided by the multi-shifting vocals against a backdrop of continual guitars. This doesn’t detract from the album at all, however it is used across the whole album, becoming a little repetitive at times, which for some can be enjoyable, but for me it takes something away. There is no doubt that the guitarists and bassist are highly talented and skilled, as belied by the outro on the second track, 'I Am Alone'. I don’t really have a favourite track off of the album, but I am enjoying the guitar and drum heavy outros and intros on every song, again this is repetitive but it can be dealt with.
