When you get a new album and it sends chills down your spine right from the first listen, then you instinctively know the band must be doing something right, and then when you find out it’s a new British band, well you’ve just gotta stop what you're doing and sit up and take note of the sheer aural joy.

One such band that recently made me sit up and take notice is Draven from Surrey, who mix great hard rock with a southern boogie filled edge.  Not only that but they also have that that unique thing of being original.

The band are fronted by the identical twin brothers Frank and Jim Paoli on guitar and vocals respectively, together with Danny Wood on the skins and Alex de la Fuente on bass.

The band take their name from the Brandon Lee's character Eric Draven from the cult movie The Crow and like the film, the band are about to become somewhat of a cult classic themselves if this album is anything to go by.

The album is a concept piece based around the tale of ‘Paradise Lost’ and is just superb.  Right from the opener ‘Blitz’, the band make an impact as Jim Paoli’s vocals simply fill the air with power, while the rest of the band equal this with some superb guitars and power raging rhythms.

The band have a modern feel but stick to a more classic rock vibe, with great vocals and guitar licks all backed with a mighty back beat and mix in a little orchestral vibe, something you can't knock in a band.

The album has a multitude of great songs that will appeal to young and old alike.  Take the likes of ‘Itchy Finger’ and the title track ‘Eden’ which will definitely appeal to the old school rock lovers out there.  Then there’s the likes of ‘I Don’t Care’ and ‘Don’t Cut Yourself’ for the Melodic lovers.  Now for all the young guns out there there’s the hard hitting ‘Fight’, the gentle flowing of ‘You Won’t Take Me Down Again’ and ‘Breathe'.  Like I said, there's something on here for all ages.

For a debut album from such a young band this is surely the first step on the ladder to success and this is certainly one band to look out for in the coming months for sure.
