In 2001 three
members of German rockers Fair Warning got together and formed Dreamtide
and caused quite a stir with their debut release ‘Here Comes The Flood’,
then they followed up that solid release with their equally impressive second album ‘Dreams For The
Daring’ in 2003.
Now in 2008 the
band are again ready to shake the foundations of the Melodic/Hard rock
scene with their latest release ‘Dream And Deliver’.
On this new
album we still have the core members of the band Olaf Senkbeil on vocals,
Helge Engelke on guitar, CC Behrens on drums and Thorsten Luderwaldt on
keyboards, but
the band are also joined by the very capable bass talent that is Francis Buchholz
of the Scorpions.
Those of you who
caught the first two album know what a talent the band have in vocalist
Senkbeil, and on this album he shines once again along with the guitar wiz
Engelke.
This top-notch
album gets underway with ‘A Fools Crusade’ and instantly you're warmed by
the majesty of Senkbeil’s vocals prolific vocal prowess and the excellent
guitars of Engelke.
The high quality
musicianship is carried on throughout the entire album as each band member
brings something of their own to the album and when gelled together, they
are the perfect Melodic Hard Rock band.
This truly
magnificent album continues with ‘I Don’t Want To Wait’ as Engelke shows
how he can make the six-string rock on this one and with Senkbeil’s near
perfect vocals, this is another absolutely stunning track.
The tempo is
brought down a little with the gentle rocker ‘Same Star’ and the superb
‘Your Beat’, two great tracks that will carry you away on a carpet of pure
melody.
But if you want
to hear the pair of Senkbeil and Engelke really play off each other then
the ballad ‘Dancing When The Night Falls’ is the track for this, as the
harmonies on this one are just magnificent.
It’s back to the
more contemporary hard rock with one of my favourite songs off the album
the riff laden ‘King Of Scum’, a more harder edged track where Senkbeil
shows off his true vocal force and Engelke really rips through this one.
‘Download A
Dream’ has that Hendrix style guitar sound from the off and with Buchholz
and Behrens providing the back bone for those tremendous vocals of
Senkbeil, this again shows why the band are destined for great things
because they have it all and can mix the softer material with the harder
edged sound in what can only be described as the perfect AOR album.
There aren’t
many albums these days that I hear that I can't find fault with, but
'Dream And Deliver' is one of those rare albums. Someone once
described the band as one of those which you could crank it up before you
go out on Saturday night and equally play as you enjoy breakfast on a
Wednesday morning and this is the perfect insight into the band.
The album
continues to impress with 'Tell Me How It Feels' another great seminal
ballad, the superb ‘Stronger’ and the quite sublime rocker ‘To Everybody’.
With the album
almost at a close you wonder if the previous tracks could be beaten for
style, well they are with the haunting melodies of ‘Keep From Falling’ and
the excellent ‘The Vow’.
Another superb
power ballad is ‘Help Me’ before the album closes with ‘Download A Dream
Reprise’. A great end to a great album, don’t take my word for it
though, go out
and buy it, you won't be disappointed. |
