Rock and roll will never die?  So claim Dust And Bones, and as long as there's albums full of hook laden guitars in full flow, songs like most of these on 'Voodoo', then long live rock n' roll.  The band take you back to when everything was good about rock music before the poseurs and their hair straighteners came along to drag it down, so as 'She's On Fire' begins, the harmonica, guitars and thumping drumbeat are enough to put a smile on your face.

It's like the late 80's - early 90's have never gone away, and 'Pair O dice' confirms this notion, with its hard driven guitar riff and crashing cymbals putting its sound in the camp of Extreme and Skin who were two of the big names back then.

'Come Get Some' is a harder edged track to begin with, its grinding six string and deep bass hook giving a down n' dirty feel to things, so talking of dirty, there's nothing left to the imagination on 'Ready Willing And Able'.  It's tongue-in-cheek, lie down I think I love you attitude from start to finish says it all.  I mean, "You onion butt gives me a nut inside my jeans" ... HAS to be the line of the year surely?!?  Definitely a man's man's love song if there has been any.  Steel Panther, eat ya heart out!.

I have to admit, Nick Elmore isn't the strongest of vocalists just yet, but he suits what is going down up to now and you can imagine him being a good front man none the less, with the rest of the band having just as much fun along the way.

'Voodoo' comes over on the heavier side, those guitars again hard as hell, the solo particularly standing out, whereas 'No More Long Goodbyes' uses a choppy riff for a full impact to get by.

Again Elmore's vocals aren't quite there on these heavier songs, as he seems more at home on the more melodic tracks where he doesn't have to compete with the harder edged music.

Now, everyman's nightmare come true is the subject on 'Whiskey Dick', aptly names when you hear the lyrics, and it doesn't matter how many guitar solo's, thudding drums or the fact that the answer to the problem is found by the end of the song, someone somewhere is going to be crushed listening to this after, let's say, a weekend of ... let downs!!

There's plenty of attitude on 'No More' mainly due to the song being very much in the same vein as Buckcherry's famous hit 'Crazy Bitch', so much so that the term is used almost immediately the song begins, and Elmore couldn't try any harder to sound like Josh Todd if he tried.

'Running Free', apart from the twin-sounding guitars, begins to run on empty as that's how it sounds in places, and is only saved from being a nothing track sue to the slowed down section midway when the vocals are put through a megaphone effect.  Very Velvet Revolver, but it slips back into its abyss to finish off.  Even 'Come Up Swinging', all drums and guitars going full pelt the way the album began can't stop things ending slightly disappointing, the best of the songs at the beginning of the album.

Dust And Bones have been together for just over a year now, so those songs that sounded a bit strained via the vocals will begin to sound that bit stronger the longer the band goes on, which I hope it does as there are a lot of plusses to the group, especially as they've got 'Ready, Willing And Able' on their side!!
