Hanoi Rocks are a band that I have been a
fan of for many years. They are also a band I have seen on numerous
times live with mixed results, but when it comes to studio albums the band
never fails to impress, and yet again with this new release Hanoi have
found the right mix of songs for their new release 'Another Hostile
Takeover'.
It’s hard to believe it's been 3 years
since the bands '12 Shots On The Rocks' release and the bands resurgence
back onto the scene. This album is an extension of the quality that
the band found on '12 Shots' and after numerous listens is probably
better. Also the inclusion of former Electric Boys members Conny
Bloom and Andy Christell have helped add an extra dimension to the classic
Hanoi sound.
The album opens up in typical Hanoi style
with the sleaze fest that is ‘Back In Yer Face’ and it's immediately
obvious that the very sound that made Hanoi a hit back in the 80’s is back
with a vengeance.
The album boasts 12 tracks of pure Monroe
McCoy classics, with the likes of ‘Hurt’, ‘Love’, and ‘Reggae Rocker’.
Tracks that the hardcore Hanoi fans will simply adore. These are
mixed with some mid tempo tracks like ‘Eternal Optimist’ and the slower
tracks like ‘No Compromise, No Regrets’, which all go to make for a really
fine release and one worthy of the Hanoi Rocks name.
This is probably the finest Hanoi Release
to date and if you’re a fan of the band then this is your must buy album
of the year. |
