Band: Haven
Title: Haven
Label: Slice Of Reality Records

A solid debut album from this band from California. Lead singer Pamme's voice reminds me of Heart in their hey-days only slightly more girly and softer around the edges.

If you like a strong female vocalist fronting your rock then this album will appeal to you. Not heavy metal, not hard rock, this band bring a fresh new face to the world of melodic rock.

The songs are a delight to hear and easy on the ear. Perfect for soundtracks and to be honest I wouldn't be at all surprised if we hear this band popping up on a few in the next few years.

Highlights off the album include 'Strange Premonition' which quickens the tempo a little and gives us a preview that they are capable of a more rockier approach than a lot of the softer rock tracks that appear on this collection.

'Show Them' has much the same effect and should appeal to the rock airwaves of a lot of USA AOR orientated stations. Sadly, I doubt whether the UK will be very appreciative to this vein of rock music, which is a shame.

'Forgiveness' is probably the closest the band will get to a commercial track.

My favourite off the album has got to be the ballad 'The Road' with it's delicate backing sound and infectious chorus. Absolutely gorgeous!

If you like this sort of music then give them a listen, they are good at what they do and will not disappoint you.
