One of the newer
collections of vintage rock live shows to appear over recent times is the
Masters Of Metal collection which the German company e-m-s have been
releasing. This particular offering is the live show of Canadian
Metal Queen Lee Aaron's show at London’s Camden Palace in 1985.
Those of you old enough to remember those heady days of big hair, spandex
and lots of make-up (and that was just the men!), will remember female fronted metal bands were
still a rarity at that time. Lee Aaron was one of the very few
female artists to actually make any impact on this male dominated genre.
Although Aaron had a
habit of changing her band line-up after each her albums, one factor
remained constant, her
lead guitarist John Albani, who featured in one form or another over the
majority of her career. Joining them on the stage at this time was Simon Briarly
on guitar, Chris Brockway on bass, and Kim Hunt who completed the line-up.
This concert features
songs from Aaron’s first three albums ‘Lee Aaron Project’, ‘Metal Queen’
and ‘Call of The Wild’. All the old favourites are here including the tracks ‘Evil Game’, ‘Danger Zone’,
‘Lady of The Darkest Night’ and of course ‘Metal Queen’.
This hour long DVD captures
Aaron at her best and to see her parading around the stage in a one-piece
red lycra jumpsuit once more is every hot-blooded males dream. |
