Band: Ueickap
Title: Stereotyped
Label: Risingworks Records

Another band hot out of Italy are Ueickap (pronounced exactly like ‘wake up’).  With varying musical influences throughout the band, they have put together their own unique mix of melodic rock and metal with the more pop rock and progressive styles, the resulting infusion is breath of fresh air.

The vocals of Irene Fraccevento are the glue that holds everything together with her engaging the listener right from the start.

After the initial intro the album opens proper with the title track ‘Stereotype’ a heavy mix of rock and progressive keyboards that lays wait for the vocals of Freccevento to unleash her ravages onto an unsuspecting listener.

The album continues to impress with the haunting melody of ‘Noiselessness’ and the rawness of ‘Sometimes’, which is actually one of my favorite tracks off the album.

The band show a gentler side while still keeping that edge with ‘Thank You For Nothing’.  This is an album has continued to impress me after each listen.

The quality of some of bands that are coming out of Italy at the moment is quite astounding.  Their continuing ability to impress and bring something new to all musical genres is a tribute to all the bands, and Ueickap certainly bring forth a fresh new sound that I’m sure will see them in good stead for the future.
