Another great Classic Rock/Hard Rock/AOR compilation. The cover looks as
polished as the bands on this compilation sound.
What you get with this collection is pure quality and high production on
all 33 tracks.
Pushing forward at the start of the first disc is 'Give In This Time' by
Ten. A band largely underrated in their homeland although the Eastern
markets have already recognized their worth.
Sounding like a rock version of Cliff Richard (please forgive me for the
comparison) on this particular track, the band are finally starting to
break through the barriers and get the recognition they so rightly
deserve.
I must admit there are a lot of bands on here that I have not come across
before. Well I've heard the names but never heard them musically before
now.
Some of them I will be keeping an eye out for in future, others I
definitely won't be.
That's what makes this collection so good. You get to taste the bands and
their music without the expense or commitment of a full length CD.
There are a good few bands that have a very similar sound to their songs.
If you like that particular vein of rock then you will be spoilt rotten.
If it's not then you have plenty more tracks to choose from.
If you're over 30 and enjoy nothing more than putting on an album and
chilling out with some great music then this is the one for you!
Anyone who was lucky enough to catch The Gods 2000 show will recognize the
band Teer and their song 'Vampire's Lullaby'.
Who would have thought anything this good would come out of Florida? A
place known for its gimmicks and false idols, these guys are most
definitely the real deal.
Further on through the collection you'll reach the beautiful track from
Kip Winger called 'Cross'. I always enjoyed his musical offerings from the
Winger days but his solo projects have been far better in my humble
opinion. This song is sung with such passion and soul it really is
special.
One of the bands I hadn't heard of at all before but was pleasantly
surprised by was Prime Time. The sleeve tells us that the song 'Forever
You And I' is a perfect example of their upbeat keyboard driven AOR.
If this is true then I would really like to see this band perform live as
this track sounded rather wonderful to me.
The contrast between Bob Catley's 'Return Of The Mountain King' and most
of the other songs on here is vast.
All you die hard Magnum fans out there will recognize this as a signal for
his return to the older more traditional songs he used to enchant us with.
A big hit at all his live gigs, which produces a wave of lighters every
time it's performed.
If you like this one you'll love the album as it's full to the brim with
treasures like this.
A melodic rock hero is Mitch Malloy and here you get the chance to sample
his golden tonsils singing 'You Lift Me'. Pure nectar to the eardrums.
Watch out for his tour later this year. I dare you to try and resist
singing along to this one!
One's to watch out for in future are Bailey's Comet, the rock DJ's have
discovered they do in fact have musical talents of their own and have
surprised us all with their debut album.
Another new band to me and one that really blew me away was Seventh Key
with their lively and heavily addictive track 'The Kid Could Play'.
The demo version of 'Only A Night' by Hardline sounds great. If you like
Kip Winger then you'll like this one. This is a song for making out to.
I'm sorry but it is! It's rich and full and warms the cockles of your
heart. What more could you ask for?
Look out for their next album, which is going to feature the fully loaded
version of this track. |
