Polish Death
Metal masters Vader are once again beset on world domination with a 90,
yes 90-date European tour about to kick off on the 17th
September starting in their native Poland.
Previously Death
Metal had been dominated by American bands the likes of Cannibal Corpse
and Morbid Angel, but in 1986 Vader were formed and the path of European
Death Metal was formed.
So the bands new
album 'Impressions In Blood' follows a long line of Vader releases, with
their passion for Metal at its most intense, fans of the band will be
delighted with this new release.
The album opens
up with a short intro ‘Between Day And Night’, then it's straight down to
the nitty gritty of the album with ‘ShadowFear’ and instantly the Vader
sound is unleashed. From the speed driven guitars of Mauser, to the
thunderous drums of Daray and power driven bass lines of Novy, the 2006
Vader sound remains true to their original. This backed up by the
fierce vocals of Peter complete the Vader sound.
The album
continues with the speed fest that is ‘As Heavens Collide’ and ‘Helleluyah!!!
(God Is Dead)’, two hard hitting metal tracks that are as intense as there
titles depict.
The album
doesn’t give you much chance to catch you breath as each song melts into
the next with great ease and the sheer brutality of each track just
increases from one to another, from the massive assault on the senses that
is ‘Field Of Heads’ and ‘Predator’ with its epic film score intro, to the
battle cries of ‘Warlords’, the intensity never stops.
‘Red Code’ and
‘Amongst The Ruins’ are two tracks where Mauser really shines as a
guitarist. You really do have to admire the sheer velocity of the
playing on both these tracks whatever your musical preference.
The album
reaches its climax with two monsters, firstly ‘They Live!!!’, a track that
will be one synonymous with the whole Vader sound over the years.
The second is the album closer with ‘The Book’, which is probably the
slowest track on the album if there is such a thing as a slow Death Metal
song and once again Mauser shows what a talent he is as he throws speed to
one side in favour of a more hardened guitar sound. To sum up, as
far as Death Metal albums go this is for me one of the finest examples
I’ve heard so far this year. |
