WASP's Blackie Lawless is back and with it he brings his most
controversial album so far. Gone are the songs about sex, drugs and rock
n' roll. These are replaced as Blackie puts it in the sleeve notes as a
collection of songs to 'Go kill people with'.
After the events on September 11th and after visiting Ground Zero, he
wrote the first song for the album. 'Hallowed Ground' - a sombre
reflection on life and death. This is now what you would call a
politically correct album, but there again when have WASP ever been so?
'Dying for the World' is still a WASP album no matter what the reasons
behind the album itself. Blackie also has a go at the US government with
the song 'Trail of Tears'. A song about the way native Americans were
enslaved and exiled on reservations. A heart felt song that hits hard at
Blackies native American heritage.
Although this album is not going to make anyone who hasn't already heard
WASP before go out and buy this album in numbers, die hard WASP fans will
appreciate it as another good WASP album.
No matter what else goes on in the world of today, everyone has their
thought's about September 11th and the consequences that day had upon the
world. Blackie Lawless has put down his thoughts into what he does best,
his music, and I think on the next album he will do the same again.
