Since the
reformation and new album ‘Victim Of The Spotlight', Canadian rockers
White Wolf have shown what the world had been missing since their
departure from the scene back in 1987.
The popularity
of the bands return prompted the re-release of the bands 'Endangered
Species' and 'Standing Alone' albums on a double digi pac. And when
the band played the UFOR festival in Ludwigsburg in Germany, the band
showed they could still bring it to the masses when it came to performing
live. This new album is actually that show recorded live and again
showcases perfectly what we’ve all been missing out on for the past twenty
odd years.
The album itself
takes in not just the new material but also includes ample material from
the bands first two albums, which will keep the die-hard fans more than
satisfied.
The album opens
up with something new from the Victims album with the vocals of Don Wolf
powering through, but it’s the double guitar assault of Cam McLeod and
Scott Webb that really brings the whole White Wolf sound alive.
As the live
performance unveils it plain to hear the band are enjoying being back on
the road, as the show goes on the pure Melodic bliss that is White Wolf
shines through with highlights being the excellent ‘The Wolf’ from the
'Standing Alone' album and the sublime rocker ‘Headlines’, with Wolf
showing what a great vocal talent he really is.
Other highlights
for me the melodic tones of ‘Eyes Of The World’, with McLeod at his best
and the quite superb ‘What The War Will Bring’.
This is a must
buy not just for fans of the band but anyone who still believes in the
whole Melodic/Hard Rock scene, because of bands like White Wolf the legacy
of the whole scene might not have been and with the band reformation this
shows the scene still has a future. |
