Band: Winters Bane
Title: Redivivus
Label: Metal Heaven

Winters Bane have always been the band that was ‘the band’ that featured Ripper Owens, but the band were much more than simply a stepping stone for Owens career. The band unleashed some of the most awe inspiring heavy metal of the early 90’s. With the departure of Owens to join Judas Priest, it was up to guitarist Lou St John to take over vocal duties for the bands ‘Girth’ release.

Now after many years of searching, the band have finally found a voice worthy of the Winters Bane material and this new vocalist comes in the form of ex-Spiral Tower vocalist Alex Koch.

With this new release the band have gone for a no holds barred approach to a classic metal sound, from the off their stage has been set. They do away with the obligatory intro and it’s straight into the hard stuff with ‘Seal The Light’, a track that immediately lets you know what a powerhouse vocalist Koch is.

Koch’s vocals bring the pure metal sound of Winters Bane out of the ashes of Owens and into a new light. The band actually proclaim this album as a ... "must-have album for fans of shredding solos, powerful vocals, and masterfully heavy songwriting" ... well for once I have to agree, this really is one hell of a release and it just to prove you really believe some of the hype these bands give out on themselves.

Highlights of the album have to be the mighty ‘Catching The Sun’ which features some fantastic riffs from St John, and the sheer majesty of ‘Burning Bridges’.

Fans of great power metal and classic metal will simply adore this album.
