Originally this
album was supposed to be a re-release of the bands 'Peace Treaty' album but
with the usual red tape now a major part of the music business nowadays meant
that this was impossible. However, not been disheartened the band and
Retroactive Records decided to re-record the entire album and give it a
bit of a make-over with new art work and one new song. The title track
'Fire It Up'
replaces the original ballad 'Hold On' and so the new 'Fire It Up' the
album was born!
The new workings
on the album have definitely benefited from the leaps and bounds made in
the recording process and have lifted the original songs and given them a
whole new lease of life, and a sound that has all the makings of a modern
Hard Rock album.
Things get
underway with the new track ‘Fire It Up’ and what a corker of an opener.
If
this is what the band are producing now then let's hope a new album is well
underway as this one rocks big style, with frontman Rex Scott sounding like
a modern-day Jack Russell with a touch of Mark Storace thrown in.
Also the
guitars of Greg Bishop have that polished AC/DC sound to them this is a
Hard Rockers dream come true.
The album
continues with ‘I Take Power’ and the good time rock n' roll keeps on
coming and carries on throughout the entire album with the likes of
‘Rollin` Thunder’, with it’s deep in the eighties guitar sound brought bang
up to take with this new recording, while Scott gives a very powerful vocal
performance that takes me back to the days of Helix’s Brian Vollmer and
early Def Leppard.
It's great riffs
and powerful vocals all the way from beginning to end with other
highlights being the hard rockin ‘Peer Pressure’ and AC/DC sounding ‘All I
Need’.
All in all a
great album, if you didn’t check them out first time around then this is a
must and let's hope the new studio album isn’t long in coming, I for one
can't wait.
