Ena Vie has spent much of her life travelling, seeking truth and wisdom in various and ancient traditions around the world. From Israel to Europe, Buddhist Ashrams and Native Reservations in North and South America, to a Master's Degree in Spirituality and Indigenous Science from Naropa University. Ena has spent a large portion of her life
apprenticing from healers, teachers and musicians. All this travelling
and gathering of wisdom is reflected in her debut release ‘From
Within’, an album that can easily be compared to anything that the likes
of Sheryl Crow has done and even has touches of Carol King in
parts. So, diverse
would be the easy way out of describing this release, but for me gentle
ear candy is more relevant. Gentle melodic tones and a sublime vocal make
this a very listenable release. When you get hammered with metal after metal
album sometimes your ears need a little break and I like to get into this sort of
album to cleanse the mind and unwind the brain. From
the opener 'Big Enough' this album will take away the worries of the day
and take you to your happy place on a magic carpet ride of gentile tones
and waves. The
album continues it gentle path with ‘Down The Road’, again Vie takes
your hand and guides you to the green pastures of positive vibes. There
are so many positives on this album that you will find yourself smiling
for no apparent reason, notable tracks to fill you with joy being
‘Firebird’, the wonderful ‘Miracle Walking’, the fantastic six and
a half minute majesty of ‘Ashes To Ashes’ and my personal favourite
‘Saturn Man’. This
is an album that I’m sure will project Ena Vie onto the world stage if
enough positively is produced and it gets heard in the right
places. There is a big market in the US for this style of music so
let's hope all
the positives in this album are heard and the name of Ena Vie is brought
out of the darkness of the underground and it sees the greater light of
the mass market. |
