When I was just a young and inexperienced in the world of metal, I was taken over by the darkside and got very hooked on the original lords of Black Metal Venom, not because they were a local band from Newcastle and the surrounding area, but because they were different. And
that what every young metalhead needs these days is something to upset
his (or her!) mum and dad, and to drive the neighbours and their dog
insane as you play your music at full blast and refuse to conform to
what is supposed to be the norm. The album itself is Metal by numbers with the exception of the addition growls and grunts from the voice box of Nornagest, which bring a sort of new ferocity to the whole Enthroned sound (he screams much better). The screaming guitars and pummelling bass tones are still their in abundance with tracks of not like ‘Prey’ and the titanic ‘Tellum Scorpionis’, which will have even the darkest corners of Hades trembling. There's also the blistering ‘The Seven Ensigns of Creation’ which is sure to have the die hard Black Metal fans in positive raptures. At a mere thirty seven minutes long the pain barrier will reach you sooner than you think
