The band formally known as Testext were formed in Rome in the late nineties and over the years band members have come and gone. The band has changed its name to Evangeline after signing to Nerd Sound Records and have finally started working on their debut release. 'Coming Back To Your Senses' is the result of the bands labours over the years and is a fine release, with a combination of styles and genres, from the punk to straight up metal, the album has it all in abundance. The album itself open up with a gentle almost progressive intro, before things get completely turned around with the up tempo pop punk feel ‘The Silent Scream of Humanity, think Sum 41 with attitude. This same up-tempo feel is carried on into ‘Terrible Machine’, before the heavier brooding metal side of the band comes out on ‘Watch Me Bleeding’ and the fantastic ‘Lost Divine’, with its full pelt drums of Marco attributing to the almost hardcore sound on this one. But it's back to the more American Punk sound with ‘Mind The Message’ and the varying tempo changes of ‘The War Has Begun’, make for another great track. The
return to the modern metal is imminent after the short intro of
scratched vinyl piano then its into ‘Blame It On Me’, a rampaging
track that spits the album down the middle with Franz giving his most
aggressive vocal account so far. ‘Gettin Worse’ is one thing
this album isn’t doing, as the up tempo feel keeps on coming with
‘Losin Faith’ and ‘Everywhere, Everytime’, before the album
comes to a close with guitar fuelled ‘I Sense’, which ends a quite
impressive debut from a band that I’m sure will do well on the
strength of this release. |
