Hailing
from Italy Even have put another genre into the mix with their self
styled melodic Goth rock with their debut release 'Think Before
Speaking'. An album that mixes both dark vocals with a
melodic guitar sound and also slips a bit of progressive keyboards to
complete this unique musical visualization.
Opening up the album is 'The Abyss' a track that has that Phantom of the
Opera feel about it with the vocals of Dave Dell'Orto giving the track a
dark feel to it. However, the high point is the brilliant guitar
work of Diego Della Novella who puts some killer riffs together, not
only on this track but throughout the entire album.
The next track 'IX' highlight the keyboard skills of Paulo F Cinza who
delivers some of the finest keyboards I've heard in a while. Two
of my favourite tracks on the album are 'Fireflies', that
once again Della Novella shines with some great guitars and carries on
the high quality into the next track 'The Storm is Over'. Which is
probably the most melodic track on the entire album. Both tracks
are massive and wouldn’t go amiss on any melodic rock album.
'Surrender' and 'Hollow Music' keep that melodic feel going both tracks.
Not quite as strong as the previous two, but still keeping the album
flowing on a that melodic vibe.
Probably the hardest tracks on the album are 'Deserts Of Light' and
'Sickness'. They still keep with the continuity of the album and
don’t seem out of place even with the introduction of a little rapping
in 'Sickness'.
The intensity of the next track 'Ice' is quite mind blowing. The final
track 'Don't Rely On Me' end the album with the band in a reflective and
sombre mood.
This style of album is no stranger to the European market and has
finally been grasped by the UK in the past year or so. So it's
time for another musical revolution in this country. Put behind
you all of the man made bands and get out there and grab yourself a
piece of real musical talent
