With their album 'Death Of A Rockstar', Lancashire rockers Exit State showed there still is some venom left in the British rock scene.  Now the band have signed to Rocksector Records for the release of the latest album ‘Black Veins’ and frontman and guitarist Roy Bright and the rest of the band, bring forth another slab of that same hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast, rock once more.

As the album kicks off with the rampaging ‘Enough Already’, it's clear the band really mean business.  I was lucky enough to catch the band performing live at this years S.O.S. Festival and they really showed everyone just why they deserved that second top billing of the first day, as they lifted the roof off Radcliffe Civic.  Their set containing highlights from both albums that day.

The album keeps its ferocious pace and angst coming thick and fast with ‘In That Place', the thumping ‘Tonight Be Free’ and the angst filled ‘Check Out The Crazy’.

Although the band can produce high octane venomous rock n' roll in tsunami waves, with this album they are also are able to show that they aren’t just one trick ponies, as they bring something different to the table with the fantastically dark vibed ‘Circles’.  As if that wasn't enough of a shock they continue to really bring the pace down with a real change of pace on the bluesy ‘Ten Year Later’.  A real tour de force, as is the the modern rocker ‘Stay’.

It's pedal to the metal once more with the title track ‘Black Veins’, with it’s massive heady bass lines.  The big groove filled rock continues its way with the excellent ‘Wasted’ and the equally impressive ‘Out In The Rain’

Things take another twist with the haunting ‘All For You’, which showcases the band at their epic best, with some old school big licks mixed with modern punch rhythms.  This is definitely my personal favourite track off the album.  The album closes with ‘This Life’, another slow burning rocker.  With this multitude of strings to their bows and Bright’s great vocal dexterity, the album keeps you guessing from track to track as to what's coming next.  Definitely a band with a bright future and one to look out for in 2012.
