Hailing from Poland hardcore metallers have caused a stir in their native land since their incarnation back in 1993, when Astek and Demon decided to merge their vast knowledge of metal music and put together a new band that would bring the metal world to its knees. Askek has now left and been replaced by former Totem vocalist Auman. Although the band have suffered other band member changes, Demon still remains as the force behind Frontside together with Toma on drums, Daron on guitar and Novak, who is described as contributing to the album as background, the band have continued the relentless hardcore metal sound that the original band members set out to achieve. 'Twilight of the Gods' was originally recorded with polish lyrics and entitled ‘Zmierzch Bogow- pierwszy krok do mentainej rewolucji’ (Twilight of the Gods – a first step to mental revolution) and only released in Poland by Mystic Production. Now the band has signed to Dockyard 1 the album has been re-recorded with English vocals and redistributed around the world. The album has the intensity not too dissimilar to that of Slayer, but with perhaps more the power and aggressiveness of Morbid Angel. The
album is as extreme as you can get, with the power and aggression like
no other album I’ve heard this year. With tracks like the
powerful metal anthem ‘Burden of Hell’ and the rampaging guitar
fuelled ‘Messiah Syndrome’, ‘Hurricane’ to the totally rhythmic
hardcore sounds of ‘Shape of Pain’, this is metal at its most brutal
and a welcome addition for all fans from hardcore metal to death metal. |
