Artist: Danny Frye & The Devil Dogs
   Title: Raised On Pin Ups
   Label: Changes One Records

Following the overwhelming response to our first 'let the band do the talking', here we have another band that are causing quite a stir amongst the underground rock scene.

Danny Frye & The Devil dolls are a fresh breath of air in the face of a stale music industry..."a band that is going to have profound stylistic and musical influence on today's pop culture."

Danny Frye & The Devil dolls hail from Cleveland, Ohio, the so called Rock and Roll Hall of Fame city. The band plays a unique mix of punk rock that incorporates a blend of 50's rockabilly & doo-wop, generating a musical style like no other! The bands influences range from Social Distortion to T. Rex, and everything in between.

The bands front man, Danny Frye is almost as colourful of a character as the music that they play. Danny is the ex-lead guitarist for Sylvain Sylvain (The New York Dolls), one of the great punk rock pioneers.

Danny Frye's credentials read like a who's who of punk rock history. He's shared the stage with a full roster of punk rock heroes, everyone from the Ramones to the Stooges to the Gang of Four, this boy has been around!

Now fronting the Devil dolls, Danny & his wild band of hell bent rockers, which now includes, guitarist Neil Phillips (B-Movie Heroes, Yo-Yo's), drummer Scott Garrett (B-Movie Heroes) and bassist Tom Spencer, formerly of the British rock 'n' roll band The Yo-Yo's (Sub Pop) are on a mission to take over the music industry that has been overrun by boy bands & manufactured pop acts!

Here we let the man himself Mr. Danny Frye talk us through a few songs from the EP. The song 'Stockholm Sick Blues' was written by John Spencer, the father of my bass player Tom Spencer (formerly of the Yo-Yo's and Sugar Snatch).

His father died a couple of months ago so we are dedicating this record to his father. John Spencer 19xx-2002.

The song 'Don't Ring True' was written while sitting on my patio, drinking beers with Neil Phillips and Tom Spencer when Lucky 13 Records flew them to America to join the Devildolls for a recording session, photo shoot and several interviews with major magazines.

The song was recorded on September 9th 2001, two days before the World Trade Center bombing. The song is about a guy who finds out from his girl's best friend that she is going to break up with him. So, he doesn't answer his phone so in his head they are still together but by the songs end he ends up sleeping with his girl's best friend.

The song 'All I really Want' was written after I returned home to Cleveland after my last tour of Britain and Scotland. It's basically a story about losing faith masked in a story about a Super hero who loses his powers and goes shopping for a hand gun.

Footnote from the Mayfair Mall Crew: You only have to look at the calibre of the musicians involved with this band to realize that it's going to be something special.

Although most of the band members are actually now based in the UK, the music still keeps that American feel to it.
