Although
this as been available in Japan for sometime this is the first time this
cd has been available anywhere outside the land of the rising sun.
Gillis's first solo album Gilrock Ranch was more of a guitar player
experimental album full of fusion tunes and way out there arrangements.
Whereas Alligator has a lot more in common with Gillis's Night Ranger
days and is obviously why Frontiers have picked up on this release.
Opening track is a full on up tempo blues rocker where Brad shows us
what a great player he is, this is quickly followed by Bigger Than life
which could have been on any Night Ranger album and the Night Rangerisms
continue with Heart Shaped Wings.
This pattern continues until we get to the excellent Chain Gang where
again Gillis cuts loose with an some excellent chest beating rock &
roll.
If you are expecting an album full of guitar frenzied solos then you may
be disappointed as the emphasis here is on the song writing.
