Artist: Glyder
   Title: Weather The Storm
   Label: True Talent Records

One of the hottest bands to come out of the emerald isle over past couple of years is Glyder who burst on to the scene with their self titled debut release and soon followed it up with their second release.

In 2008 we see the band returning with a new mini album entitled 'Weather The Storm' and the band have returned to form with five blistering Hard Rock tracks that will once again stamp the name of Glyder firmly on the lips of Rock fans nationwide.

Things get underway in fine style with ‘Brewin Up A Storm’, a song originally by another Irish band The Stunning. This was a song that the band played way back when they were still doing the pub circuit as a cover band.  Now however the band are the genuine article and one listen to this song and instantly you realise the boys have managed to capture the very essence of this song, with Tony Cullen’s Jim Morrison style vocals really making it their own.

'Love Never Dies' is another corking song the band have had around for a while and is based on Bram Stokers Dracula story.  This is a dark heady bass laden track that shows the band are trying to breakaway from the Thin Lizzy similarities and find a sound of their own.  This one is a sure winner with its wonderful warm guitar sound courtesy of Bat Kinane and Pete Fihser.

The next track and title track ‘Weather The Storm’ starts off with a gentle keys and guitar and just a touch of cymbal before a funk ridden bass line gives it a sort of hard reggae feel, with Cullen filling the track with some great moving vocals along with guest vocals from Grainne Ryan.

The band rock things up a little more with the bluesy southern rocker ‘Fill Your Head With Rock’, this is what the band do best, great feel-good rockers that will have you singing them well after the song is finished.  This particular track was originally written for inclusion on the 'Sweden Rock Festival' CD which was handed out to punters at this years festival.

Things are rounded up with ‘Lay Down’ a little Country and Western rocker, this one is a definite foot tapper and rounds off another great release from the band.

So get out your waterproofs and umbrellas, it's time to go outside and 'Weather The Storm'.
