Artist: Gory Blister
   Title: SkyMorphosis
   Label: Mastcot Records

For Mascot Records to release a death metal album after all these years must mean that Gory Blister have something special to bring to the genre.

On first hearing this album it's plain to see that this is no ordinary death metal release.  For a start the musicianship on this album is quiet magnificent.  The band still have the raw power of your typical death metal band, but they also bring some melody to the genre.

The typical growling vocals aren’t too in your face that they make you cringe when you hear it, like some bands I could mention in this particular genre.

The album opens up with the gentle intro ‘Procession to Apocalypse’, which could be the intro of any power metal album.  As this fades out the raw energy of Gory Blister is unleashed with ‘Asteroid’.  The high octane guitars truly make this track as it storms along.  It's soon plain to see why Mascot Records have signed them up, as they see great potential in the band.

The album continues at breakneck speed with ‘Sailing to Achenar’, and the ferocious title track ‘Skymorphosis’, before calming things down a little with ‘Skin Legacy’.  But it's not for long before it's full steam ahead again with ‘Blood Sweating Wall’ and the charmingly titled ‘I Shall Hang Myself’.

The entire album is a metallers delight and the inclusion of cover of Death’s ‘1000 Eyes’ as a bonus track is just the icing on the cake.
