Former Grim Reaper/Lionsheart
vocalist Steve Grimmett, joins forces with guitarist Steve Stine
for this latest project alongside the rhythm section of Hat on bass and
Dave Johnson on drums. What we have here is a combination of hard rock, metal, speed, progressive rock with an element of melody thrown in for good measure. This is an album that has to be LISTENED to carefully, to appreciate what’s contained within and the fact there are 15 tracks on offer. The intro 'Memory' leads the listener straight into '911', all heavy guitar, and double kick drum. 'Supernatural' comes across all edgy and contemporary 'Got Nothing But Time', rampaging and melodic at the same time with some great guitar riffage. 'To Catch A Killer' starts off like Yngwie before settling into some fine Maidenesque styling 'You’ll Never Know' is the ballad, a slow moody tune, acoustically driven with a few electric fills and a beautiful guitar solo and Steve sounding absolutely fantastic. Can’t stop playing this song over and over. Next up is 'It’s Over', this could’ve fitted perfectly on Maiden’s 'Somewhere In Time' album, get the picture. 'Prisoner' has a more contemporary metal sound to it, staccato guitar work with quiet vocal passages during the verse. 'You Give Me Love' is just melodic throughout, beautiful guitar passages and Steve Grimmett producing some great melodic vocals. Piano opens up 'Straight As An Arrow', (where have I heard that piano rhythm) before the staccato guitar kicks in, then the verse takes a different turn. ‘Til They Take My Wings' is my favourite track on the album and sees Steve Grimmett produce his best vocal performance. This is a total melodic rocker with a great chorus. 'Take This Air' builds gradually before the guitar thunder through the speakers. A mid paced rocker with progressive elements 'Afraid Of The Dark', another mid-paced tune, all heavy riffing and an almost Alice Cooper vocal style from Steve. 'This Don’t Look Like
Love' is a slow number with some wonderful Whitesnake style guitar and
another great vocal. 'To Sing A Lullabye' another acoustic number
and I have to say, a vocal that suits Steve Grimmett perfectly, with a
beautiful chorus. This CD has something for everyone and hopefully this won’t be the last we hear from them. Review by Brassy |
