Artist: Gypsy Rose
   Title: Another World
   Label: Escape Music

With somewhat of a turmoiled career under their belts since their formation back in 1981.  The band signed a deal in 1984 that never saw light of day and then again in 1989 the band hit another brick wall, and so the name of Gypsy Rose was destined to be washed away in the anodes of music history.  That is until 2004 when the band decided give it one more try and finally the bands self titled debut release saw the light of day and received some favourable reviews.

It's now 2008 and the band are back with their latest release 'Another World' and this time the band mean business, as they have enlisted the vocals talents of David Reece of Accept and Bangalore Choir fame to put his vast vocals to the Swedes Melodic Masterpiece.

From the off it was clear to me that the band are about to make sure 2008 is the year of the Gypsy.  With the opening track ‘Final Call’ setting the standard for the rest of the album, with its crunching guitar sound and Reece’s powerful melodic tones that really are just superb and bring the whole Gypsy Rose sound to life.

Reece’s really shows what a talent he is as he brings his full range to the superb ‘Nothing Really Matters’, with Martin Kronlund’s sterling guitar work unifying with Reece to produce one of the tracks of the album.

As this album continues I’m finding it hard to find fault with it as Kronlund’s production is second to none and he has not only brought out the best in the bands sound, but also the best in Reece who is just stunning throughout.

The album continues with the likes of the majestic ‘Angels’ and the simply superb melodic tones of the ballad ‘When I Call Your Name’, before rocking out once more with the fantastic ‘Don’t Look Back’.  This one has all the makings of a classic with Kronlund showing us how to burn up a fret board on this one, while Reece once again is just fantastic.

The band turn it up a notch with ‘Fired’, a song that just oozes class, as does the next track ‘A Little Ain’t Enough’, both Melodic Rock masterpieces that will have the purest simply breathless by their splendour.

We get a little heavier with the Hard Rock spectacle that is ‘All The Way To The Sun’ before another one of the many highlights of this superb album ‘A Million Miles’.  The quality just continues with ‘ Liar’ and the title track ‘Another World’, with Reece again showing us what we’ve been missing with another great vocal performance.

The album closes as all great albums do with a stormer and this album rocks the very foundations with the excellent up-tempo rocker ‘Hellhammer’, which rounds off a great Melodic Hard Rock masterpiece.

This is without a doubt Escape Music’s release of the year for me, I can’t fault it whatsoever apart from the fact it isn’t a double album.  Kronlund has found a winning formula and long may it continue.
