This year there has been great number of albums released from bands who are getting back to basics and just rocking out, with the likes of Airbourne, Big Balls and Dave Evans making their mark in 2010 with some good honest no-nonsense big riffed filled rock, and the fans are certainly embracing them.  Another band to go back to that ballsy, big, in your faces hard rocking are the aptly titled Hungarian rockers Hard.

The band rocked the UK at Z Rock Festival last year.  Since that performance the band have joined forces with Baltimore vocalist Bjorn Lodin and are about to release their latest no holds barred album ‘Time Is Waiting For No One’.  An album that shows the band are about to enter their greatest chapter of their career.

As I said this is a no holds barred rocker of an album, think Krokus meets Bon Scott era 'DC and you won't be far wrong with the sound.  The album has it in buckets full.

Things get underway with the title track ‘Time Is Waiting For No One’ and instantly you know what you're getting with this album, hard licks and even harder edged melodies, and with Lodin the band have found the perfect vocal for this style of rock.

Things keep on going with the superb rocker ‘Black Clouds’, again with Lodin punching out the powerhouse vocals, while the twin guitar assault of Zsolt Csillik and Zsolt Vamos drive this one all the way to the top of the hill and back again.

Lodin delivers a Bon Scott narrative intro to the classic rocker ‘Lonesome Loneliness’ and I just love the inclusion of the Hammond organ on this one, it really enhances that classic rock sound the band are going for.

There is a slowing of pace with the ballad ‘Love Goes With Everything’, where Lodin shows he can deliver a mellow vocal when called upon to do so.  The band keep up that classic rock feel with the wonderful ‘Magical Pretence’ before really turning on the style with the fantastic ‘Into The Fire’.  Now this is what I’m talking about.  Big in your face licks in an almost Deep Purple meets 'DC style.  A real old school rock anthem and my favourite track of the album.

Just to get your breath back after ‘Into The Fire’ the tempo is brought down just a little with ‘The Pace And The Flow’, then quick as you like it's right back up again with ‘My Kind Of Woman’, before slowing back down again for the mesmerizing tones of ‘Nona’.

With the album almost at a close the band unleash two monster rock moments to leave you crying out for more.  First up it's ‘Shine On My Now’, once again featuring those driving guitars from the two Zsolt’s, then it's ‘Four Leaf Clover’, a more melodic rocker while still retaining the feel of the rest of the album.  Hungary may not be noted for their Hard Rock bands but Hard and Lodin have definitely put their case forward for their native land and show that the far edges of Europe can still produce great rock bands.
