'Memories In Black' is the follow up to the bands second opus 'Born II Rock', which launched the band to new heights with their no holds barred riff filled power driven rock n' roll. The band led by frontman Andy Alkman deliver hard edged guitar driven metal which is supplied by Jocke Lundgren, together with a thumping back beat provided by Henke Lonn on bass and Kent G Svensson on drums. 'Memories In Black' continues where 'Born II Rock' left off with Alkman doing his finest with his Ozzy style vocals. As things get underway with ‘Rewinding Time’ it's all guns blazing once again as the band power through the track taking no prisoners along the way along with Alkman’s vocals and the driving force of the band, Lundgren’s guitars, backed by the pulsating rhythm section of Lonn and Svensson. The relentless pace just never ceases as the album continues with ‘Monster’ and that's exactly what this is, a monster with Alkman once again shining vocally and Lundgren spewing out the riffs like there is no tomorrow. ‘Sky Walker’ starts off with a very Thin Lizzy style beat but then the now infamous Hellfuelled sound soon takes over as Alkman reaches new heights with this one, then it's time for a more sedate approach as the band bring things down a touch with ‘Again’. But fear not the band aren’t about to completely bring things to a halt as it's soon back to the full on metal with ‘Warzone’ and the up tempo ‘Search Goes On’, with Lundgren burning up the fret board on both tracks. The band bring a little dark metal into their sound on the superb Sabbath-esq ‘Queen of Fire’, keeping with that dark 70’s metal feel they continue on with the retro keyboard filled ‘Face Your Demon’. Now this is where the promo track listing is different than what is printed as things continue with ‘Down’, another superb riff filled metal attack with Alkman reigning supreme again with some quite outstanding vocals. The tempo is picked up once more with my favourite track on the album ‘Right Now’ with its thumping bass and streaming guitars. This song simply epitomizes the whole album for me as all aspects of the track are superb, from the guitars of Lundgren and the thundering rhythm section of Lonn and Svensson, to the outstanding vocals of Alkman, this track has it all! It's back to the more darker feel on ‘Master of The Night’ before closing the album with the ironically titled ‘Slow Down’, something that the band aren’t about to do. If
you enjoyed the bands earlier material then you will be ecstatic at what
they’ve done on 'Memories In Black', as this album will just blow you
away. |
