Artist: Human Zoo
   Title: Over The Horizon
   Label: AOR Heaven

Hailing from Balingen, Germany, Human Zoo have taken the Melodic Rock world by storm with the debut release ‘Precious Time’, so much so the band will appear at this years United Forces of Rock festival on 30th September 2007 at the Rockfabrik Ludwigsburg, Germany.

The bands latest release ‘Over The Horizon’ carries on where 'Precious Time' left off, with their superb spin on the whole Melodic/Hard Rock genre and breath new life into the genre at the same time.

The band who are Thomas Seeburger – vocals, Tommy Strobel – drums, Ingolf Engler – guitars, Zarko Mestrovic – keyboards, Markus Ratheiser – bass and Boris Matakovic - saxophone, together they have put together a monster of an album.

Things get underway with the intro ‘Cosmopolitan Scene Part II’, then things really get started with ‘Cryin’, instantly the band go for the jugular with the superb vocals of Seeburger and the pummelling guitars of Engler, a great opener for what is a great album.

Things continue with the stirring guitar filled title track ‘Over The Horizon’, a track that will have the Melodic Rock crowd in raptures over the sheer quality of the sound coming from this sextet, especially the guitar work of Engler, not only on this track, but throughout the entire album.

‘Communicate’ carries on the good work as the band sound like their German cohorts The Scorpions, but with Seeburger rising above Mein on the vocal front. The Hard Rock is intertwined with some saxophone from Matakovic to great effect on ‘Want It’ and gives the sound something different, think Bonfire meets The Little Angels and you won’t be far away.

We return to the gentler Melodic Rock with the ballad ‘Be The One’ before it’s back to the riff filled stuff with the hardened rocker ‘Rock Your Town’.  All this before the highlight of the album (for me anyway) ‘Creatures Of The Night’, which starts off with the intro ‘Interlude Creatures Theme I’, before the sax takes over and from here on in it's all systems go with this definite 80's style rocker, featuring Engler’s guitars trading punches with the Matakovic’s saxophone.

Things get really rocking with the excellent ‘Hit The Rock’, this one is very early Scorpions meats Y&T riff filled hard rock at its finest.  Then it's time to bring it down again with the semi acoustic ballad ‘Lovin’ You’ before the album comes to a close with another ballad the moving ‘Endless Road’, which rounds off a superb slice of Melodic Hard Rock and one that gves this old heart faith, in that if band like Human Zoo keep producing albums like this, we can truly look at the future of Melodic/Hard Rock with a positive outlook.
