Following the departure of
Michael Bormann some thought this would result in the collapse of Jaded
Heart, but instead the band brought in Swede Johan Fahlberg as
replacement for Bormann and a new chapter in the live of Jaded Heart was
born. With Fahlberg at the helm the band sought a harder edged
sound as shown with “Helluva
Time” and again with “Sinister Mind”. The band showed one
man is not a band and now in 2009 the band return with 'Perfect
Insanity' and again the heavy edge felt on 'Sinister Mind' is here
again, this time including a ballad. The
album opens up with the intro before the full impact of the album is
unleashed with the excellent opener proper ‘Love Is A Killer’ and
instantly you feel the heavy riffs of Pete Ostros and the pounding
backbone of the band, Axel Kruse and Michael Mueller on drums and bass
respectively. A real powerful opener that showcases perfectly
again that the band mean business. This
big guitar feel is continued with one of my favourite tracks on the
album ‘Fly Away’, a real Rock monster as is the next one ‘Blood
Stained Lies’. Both real meaty rockers and with a monster bass
line by Mueller making these two chest thumping Hard Rock anthems that
will rock your world. It's
down a couple of gears for ‘Tonight’, again a solid ball of rock
with Fahlberg powering through, as he does on the driven rocker
‘Freedom Call’, but I promised a ballad and here it is ‘One Life
One Death’, a gentle refrain that breaks up the album nicely and shows
the other side of Fahlberg, as his majestic vocals really show they're
just as good on the mellower song as well as the harder edged material. The
tempo is picked up once more with the sleazy feel of ‘Rising’,
before the band turn it up a gear with my favourite track the massive
‘Hell Just Arrived’, then its another touch of class with ‘Psycho
Kiss’ again Hard Rocking anthemia comes to mind big guitars and a
massive chorus, great stuff. The
album comes to a close with ‘Come To The Feast’ and the excellent
guitar laden spectacle that is ‘Exterminated”. And
with what is known as the magic production triangle of Michael Voss,
Chris Lausmann and Dennis Ward behind the album, you knew this was going
to be something special and believe me it is, this is the band making a
real statement of intent for their future. With a tour lined up
with Primal Fear and Brainstorm, they are about to take the metal world
by storm as well. |
