Although Jorn Lande has been
a part of Malmsteen, Ark and Millennium, it's his work with Masterplan
that really put the Lande name on the lips of Melodic Metal fans all
over the world. Sadly musical differences were partially blamed
for Lande’s departure from Masterplan in 2006, but this was saw the
beginning of Lande’s solo career spiral upwards to higher levels and
one that saw the Norwegian song maestro’s best work in my opinion.
Now with news of his return to Masterplan, AFM have taken this
opportunity to release 'Dukebox', a "best of" album from
Lande’s solo work featuring songs that made the man a worldwide figure
amongst he Melodic Hard Rock/Metal fraternity.
If you aren’t familiar with Lande’s work over the years, firstly where have you been? ... and secondly get a hold of this album as it will make you wonder why you haven’t got into the "Duke Of Love" before now. This is a great album, not just for those not familiar with Lande’s solo stuff but also a one for the fans of the man and his music, as it has some great material that will make you dig out those albums and play them once again in their entirety. There are 16 superb slices of the music of Lande including such classic cuts like ‘Duke Of Love’, ‘Tungur Knivur’, ‘Sunset Station’ and ‘We Brought The Angels Down’ just some of my personal favourites, but there are many more delights on this album that makes an excellent addition to any fans collection, as well as being a great reference point for those fans to come, as you have a sample of some of the finest Melodic Hard Rock/Metal songs from some of the finest solo albums, from one of the best vocalist’s in the genre today.
