Like the darkest days of England's past the Vikings are once again coming to conquer these shores, only not to rape and pillage but to rock, as Norseman Jorn Lande returns to bring us some of the best Hard Rock he and his band can produce.

Yes following on from last years 'Lonely Are The Brave', Jorn is back with another thunderous Hard Rock album 'Spirit Black'.  As one if not the best vocal talents to come out of Norway, Jorn has become a cult figure among the Hard Rock community releasing album after album of great powerful Hard Rock and with over 30 albums under his belt, you just know this release is gonna be another one hell of a mighty power driven album.

The album get's underway with the title track ‘Spirit Black’ and straight away this is instantly recognisable as being only one thing ... a Jorn Lande album.  There’s something about that voice that just exudes such power.  Some say it's a mix between Coverdale and Dio but I think it's even more powerful than that, also this time around there’s even a touch of Lynott in Jorn’s vocals on this album.

The intense power and grace of the album continues with ‘Below’, another great riff filled rocker that will have the classic rockers digging out their denim and leathers and rocking around the bedrooms to this one.  It's more of that same classic rock style that has made Jorn so popular over the years as a solo artist with the excellent ‘Road Of The Cross’.  A haunting start followed by a thumping bass line that gives this one a 'Last In Line' feel.  Then it's another great track only with a heavier feel to it, although still 100% Jorn, ‘The Last Revolution’ which is one of my favourite tracks off this album.  There's a great guitar sound on this song, it's a real modern Metal classic for sure.

Another favourite has to be the quite magnificent ‘City In Between’, which is followed by my personal favourite ‘Rock N' Roll Angel’, a great guitar track with riffs spewing out of every orifice on this one.

But if you love old school rocking then the track for you is ‘Burn The Flame’, a real all guns blazing rocker.  It may be the shortest track on the album but I’m sure when released it will be the most played.

‘World Gone Mad’ is a monstrous Metal track with Mr. Lande as his vocal best, towering over the guitars as only he does.  This is that Phil Lynott one I mentioned earlier, a track Thin Lizzy could have easily recorded.  Then it's the quiet superb ‘I Walk Alone’, a song that takes you back to the sound Jorn created on the ‘World Changer ‘ album and rounds off what I think is clearly Jorn’s best solo album to date.
