Artist: Katastrophy Wife
   Title: Liberty Belle
   Label: Integrity Records

Kat Bjelland is back and with it she brings forth that girlish punk like attitude that was only hinted at when she was in Babes in Toyland. Katastrophy Wife is the name and attitude is the game.

Starting with the venomous 'Liberty Belle' she snarls the words and spits them out with such attitude that even James Dean would give this rebel with a cause the heads up. Straddling indie roots with rock rebellion, Katastrophy Wife make an interesting change from the usual droll the underground seem to be churning out right now.

The second song on the single is 'Ice Cream & Cigarettes' and reminds me a bit of the kind of funky punky songs Bubble have become so popular with. For fear of being stoned by the band and their media types alike, I have to admit that it's the very last song that really does it for me. It is in fact a Bis remix of the single 'Liberty Belle' and for me the breaks in the song combined with the techno sound make it a much more commercially delicious offering to my ears. Each to the own I say in my defence, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing!

I'd love to see this band in action live because I have no doubt they would set the place alight and then some.
