The Italian rock scene has had somewhat of a boost over the past couple of
years and with this revolution comes another Italian band set to make its
mark on this ever growing scene.
Keenants are a new band that since their
formation back in 2001, have taken the underground scene by storm.
This
their first full length album hits low and hard, it has many of the
trademark hardcore metal strings but what they bring is that Italian
passion too their music.
The sound
is very Korn meets Coal Chamber with a touch of Slayer thrown in for good
measure, with the heavy bass and the intense vocals. The opening track
‘This Song Is Not On The Playlist’ sees the band open up to a flurry of
bass and heavy guitars and the snarling vocals of Luca, this onslaught on
the senses continues with the very Korn-ish ‘Waiting For God’.
The pace
picks up with the infectious ‘Ride On The Grind’ that has to be one on my
favourite tracks on the album.
The album
is a well balanced release with the tempo constantly changing from track
to track something that other bands should take note of, these changes
makes the album very palatable to the ear, something that I find hard to
do with similar bands of this genre.
A good
debut and with the right promotion the band should have a big impact in
2006
