Artist: Avril Lavigne
   Title: Let's Go
   Label: Arista Records

In a nutshell Avril is the newest female artist to hit the airwaves quickly treading down the path that Sheryl Crow, Aimee Mann and Co have walked before. Think Alanis Morissette but without the PMT and pent up angst.

She may still at the tender age of 17 years old, but her voice and attention to detail does her proud. Her songs stand proud and although aimed at the commercial end of the market, they aren't sickly sweet.

With her baggy clothes and rebellious attitude, visually she's most young lads dream. She's the girl next door they always wanted. Cool, a bit of a tom boy, but underneath it all she's all girlie girl. Listen to the words of her songs and you'll catch my drift. She's had her heart broken and been caught up in all the regular teenage drama's love throws at you. Where Alanis sang about at times disturbing subjects, Avril sings about regular everyday situations. That's what makes her songs so cool to the younger generations.

The big boys have got a new toy though and they are going to milk every opportunity they can with this debut album. The songs are strong, melodic, very radio friendly, and sit comfortably between pop and rock. The tunes are so user friendly that everyone from little Joe Bloggs next door to great aunt Mabel will find something here to appeal to them.

Avril's hip, she's trendy, she's the hottest thing to hit the female artist market in a long time. She rocks with a passion that makes her a veritable force to recon with. Let's hope the men in suits get her out on the road sooner than later as there's never been a better time for a fresh new face to come and rock our worlds.

There's not a bad track on this whole album and although a lot of you might be tempted to skip through it quickly and simply listen to the intro's, I'd suggest you have a good listen to the whole songs before you make up your mind either way about this album.

I love it, it's hardly been off the car player since I got it. There's nothing quite like putting on a good tune and singing along at the top of your voice. After a couple of listens that's just what you'll be doing.

Highlights include 'Sk8er Boi' - young, fun and skater punky. 'Complicated' - anthem like and living it large. 'Mobile' - Sooo Sheryl Crow. 'My World' - shake that tambourine grl!. 'I'm with You' - a gorgeous AOR track that really does show how blessed this young girls vocal chords really are. Exceptional is an understatement. It's simply delicious and will send shivers down your spine as you listen to it. Definitely one of the most powerful and expressive songs I've heard all year.

It won't be long before you can't switch on your radio without hearing one of this young ladies songs seeping through your speakers. If you like female singers like those mentioned above then give this album a check. There's some cracking tunes on here and you never know you too might find yourself addicted to singing along to them too
