Artist: Ronni Le Tekro
   Title: Kingdom Of Norway
   Label: Escape Music

This is TNT’s uber six string slinger, Ronnie Le Tekro’s second outing as a solo artist.  The man is a virtuoso with a guitar in his hands, combining creativity, emotion and colour.  Now this cd is eclectic, (thanks for that one Baz), and weird to say the least.  There is nothing on here remotely reminiscent of TNT, so if that’s what you’re after I recommend you steer clear.

There are a variety of musical styles on ranging from Bowie, The Beatles and ELO with some psychedelic pop, a bit of funk and a slice of blues.  Highlight for me is the hard rockin’ 'Kissin’ Disease' and 'She Stole The Magic', as close to AOR as you’re likely to get. Now Ronnie may be a hotshot geetar player but he has the vocal capability of a tone deaf karaoke singer.

There are few instrumentals on here that seem to disintegrate into jam sessions, improvisation seems to have been the watchword when this album was recorded.  In fact I think a lot of the tunes were written as they rolled the tape, Hendrix could get away with it but Ronnie doesn’t have the feel of the great man.

I would normally give each song a little snippet but I just couldn’t manage to get totally into this album.  It’s an album of quirky tunes that may best be listened to while drinking copious amounts of vodka and lying on the floor staring at the ceiling, I should know, I actually tried it and it does work.
