As a die hard 80's glam fan I’ve always lived in hope that those spandex, big hair, bandana cowboy boot wearing days would come back and put the fun back into the rock n roll scene. Every now and again I get a little taste of those glory days of Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, LA Guns and the rest of the American Hair Bands by the new pretenders to the glam crown. One of those bands vying for the title of new age glam stars are London based Lethal Fixx, who consist of Jade Leearr vocals, Joe Alexander and Nikki Wilde guitars, Jonny Slade bass and completing the line-up Billy Harlett drums. Their debut EP 'Beautiful People' relives those glorious Sunset Strip days. The EP opens up with ‘1x Love, 1x Life’ and straight away all those sleaze free years are blown away. With those first few chords it's plain to see what drives the band - sex, drink, sex, rock n roll, (sounds like a plan too me!). The sleaze factor of the band on a scale of 1-10 must be 11, as the next track ‘Slave Train’ is very reminiscent of the Swedish glam punks Backyard Babies, with its swaggering guitar riffs and up tempo beat. The band are out to impress with this release as the sleaze fest continues with my favourite track off the EP ‘Mainline Traxx’. A real rocker with all the right elements of classic glam, splendid guitar riffs, a rhythm section to die for and some great vocals. The next track ‘Miss Lonely Hearts’ is a more subtle track but still keeps that 80's feel with its varying tempo changes and is very Dogs D’Amour in its construction, only without Tyler’s grinding vocals. The final track is also the title track ‘Beautiful People’ and is another riff laden extravaganza that rounds off a very impressive debut from the band. This is a band given the right breaks could go far, as long as they don’t over due the partying and crash and burn before they get started.
