Artist: Neil Leyton
   Title: Dead Fashion Brigade
   Label: Fading Ways Music

After a support slot with Ginger in 2004, Ginger was so impressed with Neil’s voice that he asked for copies of his first two albums, which at the time were only available on import.  Ginger was impressed so much by the albums that he picked out his four favourite tracks and suggested that Neil re-recorded them with Ginger contributing on them.

So the wheels were set in motion and together with Ginger, Natasha Moledina on bass, and Wildhearts drummer Stidi, Neil set about rewriting the completely re-recording the four tracks.  The fruits of their labour is the 'Dead Fashion Brigade' EP which also contains two bonus tracks, one of his forthcoming third release ‘Betrayal of the Self’, and one composed by Stagger twins Leyton and Jones.

The first track to be revamped is ‘Fires’, a track that has an American punk feel about it and you can definitely tell Ginger’s guitar sound on the track.  This again is none more evident than on ‘Lie To Me’.  A track which this time has an late 80's indie sound with Leyton's vocals bringing the best out of the song.

‘Of Course You Knew’ is a more up-tempo track (feed back included at no extra cost).  This paves the way for ‘Maryland’, a much more gentle track that it's almost just Leyton and a guitar, with the band just slowly joining in as needs be. It actually happens to be my favourite out of all the revamped tracks.

This EP depicts Leyton's musical style well and the inclusion of Ginger in the production has brought new life into the old songs and will surely help him when the new album 'The Betrayal Of The Self' is released.
