The
whole Cradle of Filth popularity has always mystified me, and Lord Belial
are of a similar vein.
Musically you can't fault the band, but the Evil
Dead style vocals are lost on me, and always will be I'm afraid.
The vocal content aside, Lord
Belial deliver a powerful message musically, and they are just one of a
number of bands, that are bridging the extreme metal void between Europe
and the UK, that has existed for more than 20yrs.
The European market is awash
with metal in numerous forms be it Doom Metal, Viking Metal, Metalcore,
Sludge Metal and just good old Metal, but the down side of all this is the
failure of bands to be original in their concept, with many bands just
being clones of other bands.
I'm afraid Lord Belial will
always come across as a Cradle of Filth clone, if you like the Danny Filth
and Co then this album is definitely for you, but sadly this does nothing
for me.
