Artist: Lord Belial
Title: Revelation - The 7th Seal
   Label: Regain Records

As a genre Black Metal has seen more than its fair share of bad publicity over the years, but one thing that is a constant factor of the genre is its overwhelming popularity in Europe and one of the bands who are always regarded as A-List bands of the genre are Swedes Lord Belial.  A band who are now at their peak and are set to conquer the Black Metal genre once more with their follow up to the highly acclaimed 2005 release ‘Nocturnal Beast’, with their new opus ‘Revelation – The 7th Seal’.

The bands ability to make the whole Black Metal genre more accessible to the layman is deeply rooted in the bands mix of raw vocals mixed with a melodic harmony of streaming guitars and a no holds barred rhythm section assault.

The album itself is pure a Black Metal album as you will find and is full of screaming guitars, a ball breaking rhythm section, and of course the obligatory gruff vocals courtesy of Thomas Backelin.

The album opens up with ‘7th Seal’ and from this point on there is no looking back as your propelled into the dark wilderness that is Lord Belial.  With tracks like the pounding double kick fest that is Death As Solution’, the gorefest (sorry guitarfest) of ‘Unspoken Veneration’ to the more sublime tracks like ‘Vile Intervention’, ‘Unholy War’ and ‘Grievance’ all wrapped in a very black veil.
