Hailing
from Tamworth Lost In Vegas are a quartet who deliver hard edged metal
full of young mans angst and driving rhythms forged in the new breed
modern metal that is dominating the air waves of Scuzz TV and Kerrang. The
band debut their talents with this mini album 'A State Of Mind’, which
contains six hard hitting modern metal anthems that gets underway in
emphatic style with ‘Wash Away’, a towering mix of streaming guitar
licks courtesy of Scotty Hopkins and thumping bass and drum lines of
Dave Roach and Rob Terry respectively, all awash by the vocals of Chris
Lynch. A great way to open the album for sure. The
power-driven rock continues with the massive ‘Nothing’, again it's
Lynch that nails this one as he brings his A-Game to the
forefront. It's great to hear a young vocalist singing and not
giving it all the Cookie Monster vocals that so many young bands seem to
have gone for these days. Also this one highlights some great guitar
work, something else that many of the younger bands today seem to have
thrown away. Melody is often left at the wayside in favour of
speed and ferocity, but thankfully not with these guys who bring it on
in great style. The
band have managed to mix heady back-beats with melody in a rich and
eclectic sound and this in brought to the forefront on the excellent
‘Looking Back’ and the foreboding bass driven ‘Breathe’.
Although where the band really excel on this album is on the simply
superb ‘Chasing The Dragon’, the class act of the album for
sure. Lynch brings forth so much power and feeling to this one
that it's just a joy to listen to and the guitars on this particular
song are second to none on the entire album. The
album is rounded off with ‘The World Is Ending’, which brings in a
more angst filled vibe to the album without losing any of that melody
that has been the main thread throughout the entire six tracks. This is
definitely one band to watch out for as they are sure to hit the ground
running with this release. |
