This is the third release from Lost Weekend and this time they've brought
onboard Murray Daigle and Mike Dmitrovic from Emerald Rain to produce the
album.
This album has traditional Melodic Rock written all over it. The rhythmic
guitars, understated keyboards and the inevitable power ballads, it has
them all. Fans of bands such as Ten will lap these songs up by the bucket
load. Although not a bad album, it doesn't exactly bring anything new to
the scene. It's traditional, if you like to play it safe then you'll love
this no risks taken album.
The obvious Emerald Rain, Ten, Gary Hughes influences are apparent
throughout the whole album. Lost Weekend fans will no doubt love it and
quite a sizeable chunk of the safe MOR brigade. But if you're not new to
the Melodic Rock scene and perhaps not so easily excited, then this is
probably going to sound like so many other albums in your collection that
you'll wonder if it's really worth rushing out to buy.
All the songs are of the highest quality and the production is fantastic.
In fact I only wish a few more bands had the opportunity to produce such
polished results in their offerings. Normally I would recommend listening
to an album a good few listens before deciding whether it's worth spending
your hard earned cash on it. However I think this is one of those rare
albums you can sum up pretty well with just one listen.
You'll soon realise whether this is your kind of music or not. If it is
then you'll be delighted in it and think it's the discovery of the month.
Sadly it wasn't for me personally and although I did listen to it a great
many times in the hope it would grow on me it didn't. Good job we all have
different tastes in music eh?
The only song that did captivate me was 'Sophia's Song'. Lighthearted and
fun it trickles along at a jolly pace and is quite a delightful little
number. The big question is ... will you remember the songs tomorrow?
Somehow I don't think so.
