This is the band’s fourth album. Hailing from Gumersbach (Germany) the band formed in 2003 and has been wowing the crowds with their brand of female based gothic metal since. On this album, guest vocals are taken by Thomas Lindner (Schandmaul) and this compliments their unique mix of folk, gothic, Celtic rock and alternative influences, creating a sound that is all their own. The album begins with an Intro track that subverts your expectation from the start. A collection of different clocks and sounds mark a countdown from 10 to 1 then slides into the first song, a very melodic Nightwish sounding song. But they use the guitars over synth and the drumbeat can be heard throughout by the very skilled musicians backing he strong female fronted band. The only problem really is that it is so similar to many other gothic/melodic bands with a female vocalist and it gets a bit samey at times. The thing that sets them apart is the folk influence that ebbs and flows throughout the album. And here the female vocals come into their own against a folk-tale instrumental backdrop. This change of genres within the album shows not only the skill of the musicians, who must switch between rock and folk music and they do this with style. 'Wenn die Engel Fallen' is the German-language duet with guest vocals by Thomas Lindner. This has a completely different feel mainly brought by the change in language. Yet even though you may not be able to understand it the slightly syrupy love song moment comes to the fore here and it again is well done by all. This German language is also picked up in other songs, including song titles and it makes a refreshing change to the familiarity. Review
