This four piece from
Germany follow up on the success of 'Champagne, Koks und Nutten' with this
their second album. This hard rock/metal outfit, led by the
irrepressible Rock Rotten, play what is termed as Deutschrock, which
isn't that much different from any normal band, except for the fact that
they sing in German. However, this just adds to their metalness with
guttural consonants snarling out of Rock's mouth. It's actually
surprising how much I like these guys. They wield their instruments with
uncanny accuracy, and Rock's voice is perfectly suited to singing in
German, especially when the others back him, making it sound dirtier and
deeper than it is. Even though the vocals aren't understandable, it's
easy to hear where the change in verse/chorus is, including the addition
of the backing vocals. This actually encourages a more intense
experience, which is by no means a bad thing. Favourite songs at the moment include 'Der Letzte Engel', with its unbacked intro and outro, sounding like a funeral, which is probably what it is. This is very reminiscent of Rammstein intro/outros, and I'm happy they have used this. The anthemic feel of 'Kain Vs Abel' makes this another favourite song, as it is slightly different to the others on the album. The only real failing for those fans outside of Germanic countries is the inability to understand the lyrics, but I'm sure a good session with a German-speaking buddy or Google Translate will help get the gist across.
