Artist: Marshall Law
   Title: Razorhead
   Label: DR2 Records

Hailing from Birmingham Marshal Law have always been a band that the phrase "always the bridesmaid and never the bride" comes to mind, with the band seeing themselves sit in the wings of the likes of Priest and their like, but this has never deterred the band from finding ways to get their music to the wider audience.  Now in 2008 the band have a great chance to really show their metal as on 3rd November, Marshall Law return with a new label and a new album ‘Razorhead’, their 6th studio album and their strongest release to date.  An album that will surely kick-start a far more fruitful new chapter in the bands career.

The stalwart members of Andy Pyke and Dave Martin are joined by Steve Hauxwell, Tom Dwyer and Dave Rothan (Graham Bonnet Band) for what is without a doubt the bands finest hour an all out Heavy Metal album.

The album get's off to a frenzied start with the title track ‘Razorhead’, a track that is as fierce as it is majestic, with screaming guitar lick courtesy of Martin and Rothan while the towering vocals of Pyke still have that razor-sharp edge they had with the bands self titled debut.

The twin axe metal sound is really let loose on the rip snorting metal that is ‘Premonition’, with the punishing rhythm section of Dwyer and Hauxwell adding that extra backbone to the sheer metal explosion that is Marshall Law and is maintained throughout not only this track but the entire album.

The album hold back on nothing with the twin axes taking the Metal to the limit without distorting the overall sound and the likes of ‘Headtrap’ and ‘Night Terror’, both leading the way for the epic ‘The Chamber’, a real corker of a track that just hints at Melodic Power Metal but with a little Thrash edge.

The album goes from strength to strength with towering metal anthems like ‘Divides Us’ and the simply hypnotic haunting tones of another epic track ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’.

The short guitar track ‘Devils Anvil’ leads nicely into the booming ‘Blood And Pain’, an all-metal extravaganza of epic proportions with Pyke showing his true metal panache on this one.

I said the band take no quarter on this as it's METAL all the way with the next three tracks ‘Another Bullet’, ‘Bloodlines’ and 'Hell On Earth’ all living up the rest of the albums sheer Metal force.

The album closes in great style with ‘Necromancer’ which once again cements the fact that Marshall Law are back and are gonna take no prisoners this time around.
