The names of Jeff Martin and Paul Gilbert may be more associated with Racer X but they have come together once again for Jeff Martin’s solo album 'The Fool'. These two illustrious rock legends are joined by non other than Michael Schenker and Russ Parrish of Atomic Punks on guitars and Rev Jones of MSG on the bass this line up alone is worth the money of the CD. The album itself is full of superlative guitar riffs; well with a line-up like this album has you wouldn’t expect anything less. There is even a Beatles cover thrown into the mix. The gets off to a flying start with 'Evil Eye' a true hard rock track if ever there was one with Jeff’s unique gruff vocals being highlighted so well on the song. This is followed by the equally special 'Till The Sun Burns Away' and my favourite track off the album 'Steppen On My Grave'. If you’re a fan of guitar solo’s, the guitar trio that appears on this release this album will have you salivating. This album has a quirky feel about it that some people might find off putting, but if you give this album a chance it will grow on you.
