Artist: Maryslim
   Title: A Perfect Mess
   Label: Wild Kingdom

Another band to come out of that hot bed of musical talent Sweden are Maryslim, a hard rocking quartet who deliver good old fashioned rock n' roll with that modern edge.  Think the Foo Fighters meets Hanoi, meets American punk.

The album 'This Perfect Mess' is the bands third release and finds the band in full rock n' roll overload as they rampage through the album with Swedish bravado.  Things get underway with the title track ‘A Perfect Mess’ and instantly the infectious side of the bands sound is an attraction you simply cannot resist.

This same up-tempo beat is carried on into track two ‘Final Warning’, as the band bring in those American Punk elements into the sound, a kind of happy go lucky Green Day.  ‘All About The Money’ is another high-octane assault on the senses as the slung down low guitars party on throughout the entire track.  This track reminds me very much of the Backyard Babies with its guitar riffs and punchy edge.

‘Alive’ is the first of two tracks to feature Jyrki69, from 69EYES who brings a Gothic edge to the whole Maryslim sound.  The album continues to impress as things take a definite upturn in tempo with the all out rocker ‘In Too Deep’ and the fantastic ‘Part Of Me’.

The band do slow things down just a touch and I do mean just a touch, with the meaningful tones of ‘High Wings’, then it's time to really get things rocking with my favourite track off the album ‘Something New’, a real punchy guitar driven track.

The party just keeps on going as the band party hard with the excellent ‘It All Comes Down’, another guitar driven song that delivers a punch like a gold bar wrapped with a silk pillow, 24-carat ecstasy.

The band do show their more softer side with another of my favourite tracks ‘Demons of the Past’, a real mood swinger is this one.  But this is just a short repose as the band pick things up once more with ‘Me vs. Myself’, before the real surprise package of the album as the second track to feature Jyrki69 is an quite outstanding cover of the Sisters of Mercy’s ‘This Corrosion’.  A track that couldn’t be more honoured than with this excellent version of a classic.  All of which rounds of a superb feel good album that I’m sure will get the band some deserved attention world wide in 2007
